Royal St. George’s is not just one of the greatest golf courses in England, but an important part of the rich tapestry of British golf. The club was the first to host the Open Championship outside of Scotland and has also held more Opens than any other non-Scottish course, including its 15th in 2021. The huge dunes that are its defining feature provide endless drama—whether it’s the enormous mound housing the iconic 40-foot-high bunker you play over on the 4th or the iconic par-three 6th hole, “Maiden,” named after the towering dunes encompassing the green.
