Here’s our list of the top 10 courses in Nevada, also known as the Silver State
1. SHADOW CREEK, North Las Vegas
Once dubbed the best course money can buy, this oasis—a splash of Colorado in the middle of the desert—was created from scratch by Tom Fazio and casino magnate Steve Wynn. Vegas glitz? Yes, but it’s also the best course in the state.
2. WOLF CREEK, Mesquite
Few courses in the world are more visually spectacular than this beautiful beast that rambles through a maze of rugged canyons and ravines. Bring your camera, but bring your best game, too, as this is ranked the fourth-toughest test in the U.S.
3. CLEAR CREEK, Carson City
This 2009 design by Coore & Crenshaw, the centerpiece of a 2,000-acre gated community, is a playable, walkable mountain course framed by Ponderosa pines and dramatic rock outcroppings.
4. SOUTHSHORE, Henderson
This private course designed by Jack Nicklaus is nestled in the hills above Henderson. Dramatic elevation changes abound, along with panoramic views of the surrounding bluffs and Lake Las Vegas below.
5. CASCATA, Boulder City
One of Rees Jones’s best works, Cascata (Italian for waterfall) is built around a 400-foot waterfall that cascades through the property, adding both beauty and challenge. The course plays mostly uphill on the front nine before tumbling dramatically home.
6. MONTRÊUX, Reno
Backdropped by the snow-capped Sierras, this Nicklaus course set in an exclusive gated community was for 21 years the host of the Reno-Tahoe Open. Lakes come into play on seven holes and waterfalls appear on four.
7. WYNN, Las Vegas
Set smack on the Vegas strip, this was originally the Desert Inn course. In 2019, Tom Fazio did a complete makeover, the new course featuring six par threes. Two years ago, it hosted The Match between Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau.
8. EDGEWOOD TAHOE, Stateline
Tahoe’s only lakeside course is the home of the American Century Celebrity Championship. The lake and mountain views are spectacular, water comes into play on 14 holes, and at no. 9 you tee off in California and hole out in Nevada.
9. COYOTE SPRINGS, Moapa
Set in a desert valley surrounded by mountains, this public Nicklaus layout features 11 water holes and 18 fast and fiercely sloped greens. The 19-acre practice facility is one of the largest in the nation.
10. THE SUMMIT, Las Vegas
An ultra-exclusive enclave, designed by Tom Fazio for Discovery Land, it sits at the base of the Red Rock mountains with distant views of LV 10 miles below. Huge elevation changes, wide corridors, and immaculate conditioning are the hallmarks.
