There is always something new at The Cliffs.
With seven communities—each with its own golf course, clubhouse, and dining options—offering thousands of activities, topography that ranges from the Blue Ridge Mountains to 26-mile-long Lake Keowee, plus easy access to vibrant cities such as Asheville, N.C., Greenville, S.C., and lovely Southern hamlets in between, it’s safe to say that life in this unique multi-membership community is never dull.
“If it’s raining at one course, it’s sunny at another,” says Kent Smith, president of The Cliffs Real Estate. “You can play on bent grass in the morning, Bermuda in the afternoon, and never leave the same club. It’s hard to match.”
And how many clubs ask, when you call for a tee time, if you’re coming by land or water? The three on Lake Keowee each have their own docks, and one of them— The Cliffs at Keowee Springs—recently added 600 acres and just released the first 40 parcels for sale, most along the lakefront with pre-approved dock rights. Lots, from an acre to slightly more, range from $300,000 to more than a million.
Meanwhile, at Mountain Park, site of the most recent course opening—a beautiful Gary Player design that roams through a river-run valley—a new wellness center is being built, and plans are in the works for a second restaurant along with swimming and tennis facilities. “We’ll have all the refinements of a private club,” says Smith, “but in a way more relaxed atmosphere.”
