“Golf may be our biggest amenity, but it is not our only amenity,” explains Brian Ehlert, managing partner of Wilderness Club, which is located in the northwestern corner of Montana amid the Rocky Mountains and forests of Ponderosa pines. “We have a big water park with two pools and a 200-foot-long water slide, and a lake with all kinds of watersports. We’re great for families.”
No matter your age or activity preferences, this club has it all, on land and water, and all year long—membership includes access to Whitefish Mountain Resort, which averages 300 inches of snow a year.
Which is not to suggest you overlook the golf, on an award-winning Nick Faldo course that is as expansive as the spectacular views. In keeping with the family-friendly nature, membership includes golf for the whole brood, with special times designated for kids to come out and play a round or just run around.
Lots, from a third of an acre to an acre or more, are priced from $125,000 to $325,000. Prebuilt homes go from $500,000 to $1 million. There also are lakeside cabins and villas, plus fractional-ownership interests, as little as four weeks a year, that invite owners to, as Ehlert puts it, “come in, have fun, leave, and we’ll clean up.”
