5 Things You Didn’t Know About Royal Liverpool

In anticipation for the 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews, we have teamed up with Cookie Jar Golf to produce a series of short films with striking aerial video footage and noteworthy facts on some of golf’s most historic venues.

Next year’s Open host, Royal Liverpool Golf Club (or “Hoylake” as it is more affectionately known) has been at the center of some of the greatest accomplishments in the sport. The history the club shares with the Open Championship is also very significant, with some of the game’s greatest players from every era having triumphed at Royal Liverpool, including Bobby Jones on his way to completing the impregnable quadrilateral in his grand slam year of 1930, five-time Open champion Peter Thomson in 1956, Tiger Woods in 2006, and Rory McIlroy most recently in 2014.
