Links Living West: 3 Creek Ranch

Towering Teton views, blue-ribbon trout fishing, and ranch-sized homesites set this private golf club community a world apart

3 Creek RanchOutdoor enthusiasts need no introduction to Jackson Hole, Wyo. A trout fisherman’s paradise, the migration corridor for wildlife, and set on the doorstep of both Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, this place is steeped in natural beauty. Whether visitors come for the sporting activities or the lively spirit of the Old West, Jackson Hole is the ultimate outdoor playground.

Add golf to the locale’s list of attractions. 3 Creek Ranch is Jackson Hole’s first and only member-owned private golf club and spring creek fishing community. Designed by Rees Jones, The Club at 3 Creek’s 7,700-yard course winds through a landscape of native creeks and stands of cottonwoods, offering breathtaking vistas of the Tetons along the way. Ranked among Golf Digest’s Best Courses in Wyoming since its debut in 2005, the course has an uncanny ability to hold interest no matter how often it is played.

“The terrain demands a huge variety of shots and stances, and then nature is thrown into the mix. A moose here, a migrating flock of geese there,” says Jones. “No two rounds are ever the same. The unexpected keeps everything fresh.”

Overlooking the course is The Club at 3 Creek, offering residents a fitness center, 75-foot outdoor swimming pool, and dining that features an eclectic, seasonal menu with an emphasis on locally grown ingredients.

A four-season destination, 3 Creek Ranch balances golf and fishing with plenty of opportunity to enjoy the winter. In addition to ski-in/ski-out access at the adjacent Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, there are more than seven miles of Nordic ski trails, an ice skating pond, winter platform tennis, and horse-drawn sleigh rides. Town Square in Jackson, just minutes away, gives those who want to dip their toe back into civilization easy access to restaurants and stores.

One thing you won’t find here is a sense of congestion. There are only 135 homesites spread over its 700-plus acres. The Cabin homesites average over one-half acre, while those in The Estate range between 1.5 and 4.5 acres. For those who crave ultra-privacy and wide open spaces, The Ranch parcels are an astounding 30–50 acres and more each. For outdoor enthusiasts, that might just be the most enticing attraction of all at 3 Creek Ranch.
