The Lone Star State’s newest golf mecca is a lot more than a major-championship site
In the time since Omni PGA Frisco hosted the first of what will be many PGA Championships—the 2023 KitchenAid Senior PGA—the resort has fully built out the Monument Realty PGA District, a sprawling development of shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. So while you may know plenty about the two championship courses designed by Gil Hanse and Beau Welling, there are many other reasons to discover (and enjoy) this golf destination just north of Dallas.

Smoke Shows
When it comes to meals away from the hotel, the Ice House—a ranch-style beer garden within the PGA District—is where you’ll want to bring a hearty appetite. It’s essentially the resort’s barbecue joint, which not only prides itself on its brisket but offers crash courses in smoking your own at home. If you’re with a small group, book a private demonstration with PGA Frisco’s Pitmaster Rick Adamo. He’ll set you on the path to smoked brisket bliss, even if you don’t own a smoker.

Boarding School
Before the hotel and the PGA District were fully built, the PGA of America relocated its headquarters here from southern Florida. If you’re thinking the home of the PGA of America would have a state-of-the-art teaching facility, you’re right. The 12,000 square foot PGA of America Coaching Center is laden with technology, such as Swing Catalyst video analysis and Dual Force Plates (to measure how players are shifting their weight through the swing). The facility also features motorized PuttView greens to help you dial in strokes with your flat stick. Schedule a series of individual coaching sessions, which include shot shaping, short game assessments, playing in the wind, and more.

Night Moves
The Fields Ranch East and West courses deservedly attract most of a golfer’s attention, but The Swing is equally worthy of your time. Just don’t play it during the day. Outfitted with more than a dozen towering floodlights, the 10-hole short course comes alive at night and stays open late—the last tee times are scheduled for 10:00 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. It’s a wonderful slice of nostalgia for those who grew up learning the game at pitch-and-putt courses that welcomed play after dark. (Insider tip: Make at least one visit to the Swing Bar, where Casamigos-spiked beverages flow from a handful of taps.)

Fit to a Tee
An effective golf swing is the balance of strength and relaxation. So, too, is the Tee Up massage, a body treatment offered at the hotel’s Mokara Spa. The golf-specific treatment combines “percussive and pressure point therapy” (i.e., the use of a Theragun) with broad spectrum CBD oil and traditional massage techniques. It’s equally invigorating and relaxing; and while we can’t guarantee it will rid your muscles of those deep-rooted bad swing habits, it’s sure to alleviate any pent-up tension.

Home on the Ranch
Omni PGA Frisco’s main hotel has 500 guestrooms and suites, the latter spacious, luxuriously appointed, and ideally suited if you’re traveling by yourself or with a significant other. If you’re traveling with a group of buddies, however, the resort’s four-bedroom ranch house villas are the places to stay. Not only do these 10 standalone accommodations boast open floorplans, expansive entertaining spaces, and full chef kitchens, they’re also outfitted with outdoor fire pits, with s’mores kits and premium cigars available upon request.
Wonderful place to enjoy every section to eat, play golf, ship, stay over just to relax.
