Tiger Woods has a new ball. As of today, he will be playing Bridgestone’s B330-S ball as part of an exclusive multi-year agreement. This comes after the announcement earlier this year that Nike, which supplied Tiger’s equipment for years, is getting out of that business but will continue making apparel and shoes, which Tiger continues to wear.
It also comes after Woods tested numerous balls from different manufacturers. “Finding the right golf ball is extremely important. It’s an essential part of my equipment, and the Bridgestone B330-S ball is hands-down the best for my game,” said Woods. “Controlling launch and trajectory is critical, and with this ball I feel I have total control to hit all shots accurately.”
Woods says he is longer than he’s ever been by about six yards. “Being able to hit one, even half a club into the green is a huge advantage.” He also says he likes having a ball with lots of spin and one that being a little softer allows him to be more aggressive on the greens.
Tiger Woods also announced earlier this week that he’ll make his first appearance of 2017—and his second since finishing 15th at his own Hero World Challenge earlier this month—at the Genesis Open, played at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, Feb. 16-19. Woods played his first PGA Tour event at Riviera back in 1992 as an amateur at age 16, shooting 72-75 to miss the cut. He hasn’t played a Tour event at Riviera since 2006. Woods’ company TGR Live is one of the tournament’s hosts.
