It’s out with the Olde and in with the newly renovated and redesigned Tom Fazio II course at St. Andrews Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida.
The course renovation is part of the just-completed first phase of the three-phase $25-million Club Improvement Plan, which also included substantial improvement to the practice facilities (including a larger 10,000-sq. ft. putting green) and one of St. Andrews’ ballrooms.
Fazio’s redesign is as spectacular as it is comprehensive. New features include stunning and strategic bunkering, a dramatic change in the visual appearance, new landscaping, new greens, tees, bunkers and cart paths, installation of Bermuda Turf, and most importantly for members and guests, improving the playability at all skill levels.
“Our main goal when designing the course was to enhance the playability and visual aspect,” says Fazio. “The new strategic greens contouring and design allows a variety of different pin placements to change the difficulty and keep your interest on daily basis.”
St. Andrews is also home to an Arnold Palmer Signature Design® and the home course of the LPGA’s Morgan Pressel. The club has played host to numerous PGA golf exhibitions led by touring pros such as Phil Mickelson, Arnold Palmer, John Daly and Rocco Mediate.
