Old Tabby is a great course in a beautiful marshland setting, and the historic tabby ruins make it something special. The 11th isn’t on the marsh but it’s a hole I’m very proud of in the wake of the extensive changes we made during a recent restoration. Today, native grasses combine with bunkers and landforms to make the hole look a lot harder than it really is.
There are actually a number of landing areas for the tee shot, but choosing the correct one—and avoiding the cross bunkers—is part of the strategic challenge. We’ve also added a tee that, under the right circumstances, makes this a drivable par four.
Bottom line, this is now a hole that rivets your attention.
I love Old Tabby Links! Had a chance to go back & play it again this past Spring & it’s STILL as good (if not better) than when I first played it over 10 years ago. Quiet, pristine, out-of-the-way and in terrific condition I consider this course Arnold’s best but many people aren’t aware of it or have not played it because it’s private. Trust me—if you can get on this course you will have enjoyed a great day of golf. Good score or bad!
