Last night the bracket for the World Golf Championships – Dell Match Play were released, getting everything set up for golf’s edition of March Madness.
Unlike in basketball’s version though, there will be no early exits for the top seeded golfers, at least not one and done. That’s because after the format change a few years ago, all 64 golfers are guaranteed to play at least three matches in the newly formed round robin play with the winner of each of the 16 groups moving on to the knockout round.
Overall #1 seed Dustin Johnson drew Jimmy Walker, Martin Kaymer, and Webb Simpson in his pool. Defending champion, and overall #3 seed Jason Day will have to get through Arnold Palmer Invitational winner Marc Leishman, Lee Westwood, and Pat Perez if he wants to successfully defend his Match Play crown.
Play gets underway from Austin Country Club on Wednesday with a champion being crowned on Sunday. Below is the full list of all the players in all the groups:
