The Sea of Cortez, between the long arm of Baja California and Mexico’s mainland, is ideal for swimming, snorkeling, sailing, sport fishing, and surfing. Overlooking the sea and tucked into rugged desert mountains about 20 miles north of Cabo San Lucas at the tip of the Baja sits the private golf and beach community Querencia. Its luxury lifestyle is centered around Mexico’s top-ranked golf course and three acres of premium waterfront.
The golf course—Tom Fazio’s first project in Mexico—has earned plenty of awards and attention, and has been treated to $2 million in updates over the last 15 months. The current beach club, however, has been fully functioning but temporary. That is about to change.
“The Beach Club development is the crown jewel of Querencia,” says Ryan Elston, president of real estate. “It’s been long anticipated and we’re very excited about adding this first-class amenity for the whole club.”
The new club, with groundbreaking set to take place this year, will include a fitness facility and restaurant. Elston says the club is also considering 20 high-end beach residences to grace the oceanfront, with a variety of spacious floor plans and extraordinary views down the coastline. Interest in pre-sales has been high.
Guarded by rocks at each end, Querencia’s private beach is at one of Cabo’s best surf breaks. The waves of Old Man’s and The Rock break right there, providing world-class surfing.
The Beach Club and residences are part of a comprehensive $60 million enhancement plan initiated by new ownership that took over in 2017. The developers introduced a fresh design palette to the nearly two-decades-old community, on display in eight developer homes overlooking the sea and golf course. New homesites, surrounded by a five-acre park/green space, have been introduced, with spacious, single-level, expansive-view condos coming soon.
Members are enthusiastic about the improvements both on and off the course. At a recent member/member golf tournament, those lucky enough to have been at Querencia since its early days said the course is better than ever. And everyone is excited to welcome family and friends and show off the Beach Club when it debuts in early 2021.
