A third Tiger Woods course is in the works at this family-oriented community sitting along the Pacific Ocean on Mexico’s Baja Peninsula
Tiger Woods’s imprint is all over the Diamante luxury resort and community. Set along the coastline at the tip of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula, Diamante first made golf headlines for Davis Love III’s Dunes Course. Opened in 2009, the Love design sits among dramatic seaside sand dunes and was ranked No. 36 in the world by Golf Magazine in 2017. That was the first step in shaping the resort into a top golf destination.
Diamante burnished its reputation in 2014 when Woods debuted his first-ever design, El Cardonal, which features incredible views of the Pacific from nearly every hole. He followed that with the 12-hole par-3 Oasis Short Course in 2016. Next up for Woods is another championship course, The Legacy. Scheduled to open in the fall of 2024, the private course will be set largely in a bowl to provide protection from the wind, but its higher elevations will yield panoramic views of the Pacific. “It’s going to be quite special,” says Diamante’s Director of Golf, Josh Hershoff.
The Legacy will have an invitation-only membership that requires homeownership at Diamante. The opportunity to own here sometimes gets lost in the resort’s magical setting along a mile-and-a-half of white-sand beach, luxurious amenities, and world-class service. But there are plenty of options, including condos, villas, turnkey homes, and custom-built homes. The newest is Legacy Highlands, located on the outskirts of Woods’s latest design—about 60 homesites overlooking the course will be available. For those who crave higher exclusivity, the 14 very private homes of Legacy Founders Estates will be right on the course.
With about 60 residences under construction and the beachfront Ocean Club Residences about half completed, things are full steam ahead at Diamante.
Despite its privacy and luxury, Diamante is a family destination. The golf courses are set up for all ages, and the resort’s 10-acre saltwater Crystal Lagoons®, one of the largest pools in North America, offers family-friendly amenities and activities. A state-of-the-art spa, fitness and sports center, several bars and restaurants, and six miles of hiking trails make this a paradise for all.
“I would love to spend as much time as I possibly can here,” says Woods. “This is so much fun. It’s a great family place…and everything is so self-contained. It’s the best of all worlds.”
