Jon Rahm had a season to remember in 2017 and the accolades have started to pour in.
On Tuesday, before the start of the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, Rahm was presented with the Sir Henry Cotton award as the European Tour Rookie of the Year.
Rahm turned pro in the summer of 2016 and instantly took the golf world by storm. Rahm won the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open in 2017 on the European Tour while also finishing in the top 5 in both the WGC–Dell Technologies Match Play and the WGC–Mexico Championship.
Rahm also had a successful 2017 campaign on the PGA Tour as well. In addition to the two top 5s in the WGC events that count towards both tours, Rahm had 11 top 10 finishes including a win at the Farmers Insurance Open and runner-up finishes at the Dean & Deluca Invitational and the Match Play.
Rahm turned all that success into a top 5 ranking in the Official World Golf Ranking in just over a year as a pro. The former Arizona State Sundevil also joins the likes of Pablo Larrazabal, Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano, Sergio Garcia, and Jose Maria Olazabal as the only Spanish winners of the award.
