It’s no secret Darren Clarke enjoys a pint or two after a round on the golf course. He famously told reporters after his win at the 2011 Open Championship that he had “had a few beers”. That should all help as he embarks on a new journey off the course: bar owner.

Clarke announced via twitter on Sunday that he will be opening a bar in Hilton Head South Carolina called Darren Clarke’s Tavern.

Clarke will join Tiger Woods and Graeme McDowell as professional golfers in the restaurant/bar industry. Woods’ The Woods in Jupiter has been a hit since it opened, while McDowell’s Nona Blue recently opened a second location in the Jacksonville area to go with its original location in Orlando.

Clarke is no stranger to the Hilton Head area. He has played the RBC Heritage five times, with his best finish coming in 2005 when he finished runner up to Peter Lonard.
