Sans the Parrotheads and blender drinks, could Tigerville become the golfer’s version of Margaritaville?
The new owner of Cherokee Valley Golf Club in Tigerville, South Carolina, hopes to bring both a winery and concert events to the mountain golf resort to make it more attractive as a regional destination.
With its magnificent views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Southern-style clubhouse, and P.B. Dye layout that’s open to the public, this private golf club already has plenty to entice. The club is close to Greenville, South Carolina, and within easy striking distance of Asheville, North Carolina.
The resort’s new owner, Matt Jennings, bought the property in April from Brown Golf Management and is already working to make improvements. The golf course is first on his agenda. They are already working on conditioning and expanding the tees. A major renovation of the clubhouse is also in the planning stages.
But it could be that bringing a winery and concerts to this beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains setting will be just what the resort needs to get on the region’s radar.
We’ll raise a glass to that.
