Two of the world’s biggest sports celebrities, Venus and Serena Williams, call the private club community of BallenIsles home. So maybe it’s only natural that this amenity-rich community in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., is itching for a bigger clubhouse.
The Palm Beach Post reports that BallenIsles has applied to the City Council to expand it’s already 72,000-square-foot clubhouse by an additional 23,000 square feet. The proposal includes more dining room, including over 3,000 square feet of outdoor covered dining.
You may recall that BallenIsles was the headquarters of the PGA of America from 1964–1972 and hosted the game’s greatest players and majors. Jack Nicklaus won the 1971 PGA Championship on the East Course, one of three courses here.
The club is also home to, no surprise considering its resident stars, a number-one-ranked tennis facility that includes 20 clay courts and a 500-seat stadium court. And then there’s that cutting edge, 62,000-square-foot Sport Complex that offers the ultimate in fitness facilities.
No doubt, with all that square footage, members here live large.
