Top International Course Openings for 2026

While the United States has more golf courses in the developmental pipeline than any other country in the world, there are collectively more new courses currently under construction outside the U.S.

The global golf stage is compelling, and a natural follow-up to this piece highlighting 26 top U.S. course openings for 2026.

Highly anticipated projects such as Curracloe Links in Ireland (Dana Fry and Jason Straka), and Jack’s Bay and Torch Cay in the Bahamas from Nicklaus Design and Coore/Crenshaw, respectively, could see some preview play in 2026, but likely will fully open in 2027.

Here are nine other noteworthy new courses scheduled to open in 2026.

PUBLIC

The Cliffs Kangaroo IslandAustralia

The Cliffs Kangaroo Island is one of Australia’s most visually arresting golf course projects, routed along sheer coastal cliffs overlooking the Southern Ocean. The course, designed by Darius Oliver and set for an Easter grand opening, takes advantage of expansive ocean and island views. The property will also feature luxury accommodations for stay-and-play opportunities as it seeks to position itself as South Australia’s next top tourism attraction.

Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh Golf ClubEgypt

The Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh Golf Club will introduce a new 18-hole championship course to Egypt’s Red Sea coast in 2026. Robert Trent Jones II designed the layout which sits in a natural bowl framed by coral ridges and cliffs in the desert-meets-sea environment of the Sinai Peninsula. Anchoring the luxury Four Seasons resort, the course is intended to elevate Sharm El Sheikh’s profile as a high-end golf destination in the Middle East and North Africa.

Fox Harb’r Resort (Hybrid Course)Canada

In May, Fox Harb’r Resort in Nova Scotia will introduce a limited-time hybrid golf experience that blends nine new links-style oceanfront holes with nine new heathland-style holes from the property’s Vineyard Nine. The full 36-hole expansion at this luxury oceanfront property is expected to be completed in 2027, comprising a full 18-hole Ocean Course and 18-hole Vineyard Course.

The Hills Lifestyle EstateZimbabwe

Part of a broader $280 million luxury golf development in Zimbabwe’s capital, a Peter Matkovich 18-hole championship course anchors The Hills Lifestyle Estate that’s set to open in mid-to-late 2026. The layout, which winds through rolling terrain and indigenous vegetation and is the centerpiece of the residential and leisure development, has an eye on hosting tournaments while also serving the growing local golf community.

Hann Reserve (Dragon’s Landing)Philippines

This sprawling development two hours north of Manila will eventually feature three golf courses in addition to hotels, homes, and retail spaces. The first course at one of Southeast Asia’s most ambitious new golf destinations—the rugged Dragon’s Landing mountain layout from Nicklaus Design—is scheduled to open this year, with the K.J. Choi-designed 6 Moons course also under construction and looking to open in 2027. Faldo Design’s Cavern’s Deep course projects a 2028 opening.

Van Lang Empire T&T Golf ClubVietnam

Vietnam is home to more golf development than any country outside the U.S., and the Van Lang Empire T&T Golf Club, located about 60 miles northwest of Hanoi, is opening its new Greg Norman design in early 2026. Each of the 18 holes on the mountainous layout is inspired by the 18 generations of Hung Kings. The new course is part of a 36-hole master-planned development that also includes a hotel, housing, and an event venue.

PRIVATE

Punta Brava Golf & Surf ClubMexico

Punta Brava Golf & Surf Club is emerging along Mexico’s Pacific coast as a private, lifestyle-driven retreat blending golf, surf culture, and raw coastal terrain. The latter is especially true as it relates to the golf course, with architect Tom Doak having called the rugged oceanfront setting the hardest construction job his team has ever done. Before the build even began on the dramatic oceanside cliffs—including eight holes over and along the water—Doak said he couldn’t imagine that anyone who went to the site would walk away unconvinced that it was going to be one of the great courses of the world. Golf is just one part of the broader experience at this boutique property, which has a low-density luxury housing component and counts Malbon Golf founder Stephen Malbon among its founding members.

Querencia (Campo Alto)Mexico

Twenty-five years after the private retreat of Querencia opened its Tom Fazio course on Baja California Sur, the second course from Fazio is set to debut within the 2,000-acre community. A contrast to the original layout, Campo Alto is a “desert-meets-sea” design that leans into its dramatic land features and elevation changes over ridges and through canyons. The result is a course that Fazio says focuses on playability and bringing joy back to the game. “The first thought in your mind after you finish a game is, ‘Can we go play again?’” says Fazio, “because what you experienced was so interesting and fun.”

Hogs HavenScotland

Hogs Haven is a private golf project in the hills overlooking the Old Course at St. Andrews. The project, which includes a full-length main course along with a short course and luxury lodge, is backed by the group behind Hogs Head—the exclusive golf escape in southwest Ireland. When the course opens, it will be the first new one in the area since David McLay Kidd’s Castle Course in 2008. Bordering the nearby Duke’s course—on a piece of property that’s seen several failed golf developments in the past—at least half of the championship course is expected to open to members in 2026, with further buildout of infrastructure and other property amenities to continue for several years.
