Texas

Long famous for its expansive vistas and larger-than-life golf retreats, Texas has quickly become a great value play for those in search of world-class golf and course-side real estate. And the spectacular views, especially around the scenic South and Southeast regions of the state, are thrown in for good measure.

The lastest gem in the Texas Hill Country is the soon-to-be-unveiled Summit Rock Golf Club at Skywater Over Horseshoe Bay. The 200-acre, par-72 Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course course is divided into two distinct sections—a lower, level playing area and an upper, more rugged terrain. Designed with the natural landscape in mind, existing oak trees play a key role in determining the placement of each hole.
"This piece of land incorporates all of the elements a designer looks for in a golf course—nice vegetation, creeks, streams and variation of terrain," says Jack Nicklaus. The private, 18-hole course will feature a multi-faceted clubhouse and pro shop and is scheduled to open in fall 2008. Upon completion of construction, the course will be owned by Horseshoe Bay Resort, joining the Resort’s three championship Robert Trent Jones Sr. golf courses.
In addition to the new Summit Rock Golf Club, Skywater Over Horseshoe Bay will feature a private community center, fitness center, hiking and biking trails, tennis courts, private neighborhood pools and gardens, and lush Hill Country landscape.
All residents of Skywater will have the opportunity to become members of the Horseshoe Bay resort, which boasts 54 holes of golf, two clubhouses, private airport, fitness center and spa, yacht club with beaches and resort style pool, extensive marina, tennis facility and a multi-million dollar, 18-hole Bermuda grass putting course. Skywater residents will have their resort initiation fees waived, a value of $75,000 per membership.
