Whistling Straits Pete Dye Golf Courses

1. Whistling Straits (Straits)

The site of the 2004 and 2010 PGA Championships, the Straits looks like it was airlifted from Ireland. Remarkably, Dye sculpted the rugged walking-only course along a two-mile stretch of Lake Michigan from a flat landscape that was a former airstrip. Owner Herb Kohler was walking the site one blustery day during construction and felt like the wind whistled, giving the course its name.
