Sailfish Point

Nicklaus golf, a private marina, and an unrivaled oceanfront setting

At the sea island community of Sailfish Point, on Hutchinson Island an hour north of Palm Beach, members enjoy well over a mile of private white-sand beach on the Atlantic, a private deepwater harbor, and perhaps the most enviable and unique location in Florida.

This  is where the Atlantic Ocean, St. Lucie Inlet, and Indian River converge to surround the island with a variety of waters. And where the Gulf Stream keeps the waters temperate, while onshore breezes moderate the climate.
Amazingly, though, the extraordinary location isn’t even what members love most. Instead, that would be the island’s unassuming, friendly atmosphere. (If you’re looking for glamour and glitz, you’ll have to travel farther down the coast.)

What you will find, however, is a community that enjoys its active social life as much as it does the privacy island life affords. From gourmet wine dinners to the monthly “Movie Night at the Pool,” the social calendar is overflowing with opportunities to gather with neighbors and friends.

You will also find an excellent Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course, where members never have to make a tee time. Originally opened in 1981 as one of Nicklaus’s early Signature courses, every hole offers exceptional views of the water. The premium location along the ocean means those offshore breezes make this a subtly different course every time you play it.

Nicklaus returned in 2007 to do $6 million of extensive renovations to his design. The changes, members say, made a good course great. Though there are plenty of “wow” moments along the way, the 18th hole makes for a fantastic finish. Known as the “Window on the Sea,” this 443-yard par four has you putting out to the sounds and sights of the Atlantic.

This is the only place in Florida, where you can get to open water from a private marina in five minutes. Set in the Sailfish Capital of the World, the oceanside community offers its members a full-service, 77-slip marina accommodating yachts up to 125 feet. That’s a great starting point for any boating or fishing adventure.
