Grand Cypress offers golfers of all skill levels one of the finest and most diverse menus of golf to be found anywhere. The North, South and East nines, offers a variety of physical and mental stimuli and provides a test of accuracy rather than strength and distance. The North and South nines, the original course built in 1984, feature terraced fairways, generous landing areas, mounds and platform greens with yawning bunkers. The East nine, added in 1986, is more generous, with less bunkering, particularly in front of the greens, allowing more run-up shots.
The New Course at Grand Cypress, which opened in 1988, adds another dimension of play, with steeper and more challenging bunkers and slopes. Set in the midst of an open meadow, the New Course was inspired by the Old Course at St. Andrews, Scotland. Visions of the St. Andrews course appear throughout the New Course at Grand Cypress, including pot bunkers as deep as 12 feet, seven large, double greens, a snaking burn (creek) on three holes, stone walls along the 15th and 17th holes (resembling the 17th hole at St. Andrews, known as the “road hole”) and even a stone bridge. Very little water comes into play and few trees are located within the interior of the course, allowing ample room to drive the ball.
The Clubhouse features a Pro Shop, which offers a full line of golf equipment and sports and casual apparel. The Clubhouse offers two dining options, both with magnificent views of the ninth holes of the North and South courses --- the AAA Four-Diamond Black Swan restaurant and the casual The Club… a restaurant and sports bar.
The Grand Cypress Academy of Golf offers a comprehensive golf experience for players of all levels, whether a novice seeking a good start in the game or an accomplished player in need of some fine tuning. A variety of school programs (including three day schools, daily clinics, private instruction, junior schools, corporate programs) are available and focus on specific aspects of the game. Multi-day schools feature comprehensive full swing and short game instruction, Model Golf video analysis and Model Golf club fitting. Daily clinics focus on one of the 14 different instructional areas. Instruction takes place in the ideal setting at the Academy of Golf’s 21-acre practice facility, which features its own three-hole teaching course, which—like the resort’s 45 holes of championship golf --- was designed by Jack Nicklaus. The par 3-, 4-, 5-holes, plus a 7,500 square foot putting green, covered driving range, and nine practice bunkers offer the variety of learning experience students need for a well-rounded game.
Other diversions include a world-class Equestrian Center, which offers instruction for riders of all skill levels and two scenic trail rides. There’s in-room spa services, swimming, nature trails, fine dining and more.
The Villas of Grand Cypress Golf Resort truly is More Grand Than You Ever Imagined.
