Pete Dye says that the future of golf
lies in its past, specifically in the great traditions of the game. It was with
this in mind that the world-renowned golf course architect built The Dye Preserve Golf Club, one of only a few golf courses in the area
offering a “core golf” experience.
Golf at The Dye Preserve is steeped in tradition. It
encompasses 175 park-like acres enriched by Florida’s native flora and fauna. The 18-hole
championship course features
the very latest in turf technology for the highest caliber of play. The variety
of turf beautifully defines the tee boxes, fairways and greens on each hole.
The
hallmark of this private course is its exquisite tranquility. These attributes,
increasingly rare in South Florida, maximize
the beauty of the cypress breaks, water features and wildlife
habitats. Native birds and
wildlife are as at home as the members, and on any given day can be seen between
every shot.
“The design of a golf course should not be driven by
the surrounding real estate or roadway grids,” Dye said. “This course is keyed
solely on the game. Designers today should consider preserving and enhancing the
natural characteristics of land, creating golf courses that will challenge a
player’s skills and spirits as it delights his senses. My inspiration for this
course came from golf’s greatest traditional courses.”
“The
Dye looks and feels more like a course in the low country of Georgia or South Carolina,” said Joe Webster, president
and managing partner. “The Dye Preserve is the benchmark of quality play in
Florida,
catering entirely to the ardent golfer. The minimal intrusion of nearby homes
and the technical challenges of a Pete Dye course – all within 30 minutes of
Palm Beach
International Airport – are enticing to golfers in
search of an enhanced experience.”
Along with Dye’s precision hole design, the historic
traditions of golf that date back to the 15th century take center
stage at The Dye. The club’s members are guaranteed the luxury of play, as
reserved tee times are not required. Experienced, professional caddies accompany
players walking the course, which features unobtrusive soft cart paths of
crushed coquina. Natural buffers protect players from the distractions that are
often associated with modern courses.
Among the many aspects that set The Dye apart from
other golf clubs is its 20,000-square-foot clubhouse, a finalist in Golf Inc. magazine’s 2007 Clubhouse
Competition private club category. The warm, inviting lodge-inspired clubhouse
features a dedicated library displaying Pete Dye memorabilia, coral rock
foundation and terraces, and spacious, outdoor porch views of the 9th
and 18th greens.
Pete Dye has designed more than 75 landmark courses, which have been host to
some of golf’s most highly recognized tournaments, such as the Ryder Cup, the
PGA Championship and The Players Championship. For membership information,
