During our 20-year history, we have had an impressive roster of
contributing writers: John Updike, George Peper, Jack Whitaker, Furman Bisher
and Ben Wright, to name a few. Now the LINKS Magazine Writing Contest will give
you a chance to add your byline to this august roster.
All you have to do is write a 500-word essay about your favorite course(s).
Pick any angle you want: architecture, history, memorable rounds, funny
anecdotes. Plus, you can write about as many courses as you want as long as they
are accessible to the public (no private clubs, please). The judges will be the
editors of LINKS, and there will be six winners in all—we will print one
reader-submitted article in each issue in 2009.
From Bernard Darwin to Herbert Warren Wind to George Plimpton to Dan Jenkins,
golf writing has thrived for more than a century. We may live in an electronic
age, but there is a romantic, timeless quality to the printed word that brings
out the best in our contributors. Now is your opportunity to see your byline in
the magazine and take your lasting place in golf’s rich literary landscape.
The deadline for entries is April 1, 2009. Click here to see official rules.
