Not so the latest offering from TaylorMade, the r7 CGB Max. Four tungsten weights and a hollow top line move the center of gravity deep into the clubhead, resulting in the company’s most forgiving iron. It is also its longest, thanks to an ultralight graphite shaft and thin, flexible face. Of course, all this technology doesn’t come cheap. At $195 per club ($172 steel), CGB Max is TaylorMade’s most expensive iron. “It’s a great time to be a mid-handicap golfer,” says a 15. “I hit a lot of thin shots with this club that still finished on or near the green.” MSRP: $1,560 (4–SW with graphite shaft)
