Adams Idea a3 Hybrid Iron Golf Clubs Review
© Bob Grier

The Idea a3 is ideal for higher shots with the long clubs and lower shots with the shorter ones

Adams Idea a3 Hybrid Iron Golf Clubs ReviewAdams Golf improves on its big Idea with its latest hybrid-iron combo set, the Idea a3. Along with well-performing mid and short irons, the a3 features 3, 4 and 5 Boxer hybrids with a high moment of inertia. As expected, testers found them both forgiving and easy to hit.

But the real surprise was the mid irons, which have a hollow-back design and progressive offset. Testers were a club longer than with the same iron in their current set. “There was a seamless transition between the hybrids and irons,” says a 13. “The a3 is truly a set and not just hybrids and irons thrown together.”

The irons’ performance was borne out by the launch conditions, especially the low spin rate, which helped add distance and create a penetrating ball flight.

MSRP: $499 (3–PW; graphite-shaft hybrids, steel-shaft irons)
